New York Jets coach Jim Schwartz announced that he will be a high performance consultant.
“I’ve never been more excited about my job and this opportunity,” Schwartz said in a statement.
“I’ve got a lot of great friends in New York City and I’m excited to be here to help build this team’s future.”
The Jets have been one of the hottest teams in football since they acquired offensive coordinator Chan Gailey and offensive tackle LaAdrian Waddle in the offseason.
They have won four straight games.
They also have a bye next week and a bye the following week.
They host the Jacksonville Jaguars on Thursday night.
The Jets also announced Thursday that they have retained offensive line coach Jim Lefkoe.
Lefkowe spent the past two seasons as offensive line coordinator with the Carolina Panthers.
He was fired by the Panthers in 2015.
The Jaguars hired former Denver Broncos coach Gus Bradley in December.
